Recent weeks have been marked by an active agenda of promotion and collaboration that continues to project Puerto Rico in strategic markets. Through media missions, meetings with industry professionals, and new sports milestones, several initiatives continue to strengthen the destination’s visibility and growth opportunities for the sector.
Destination Promotion During ANATO in Colombia and Trade Events in New York, Chicago, and Atlanta
From February 23 to 27, the tourism promotion team participated in La Vitrina Turística de ANATO 2026 in Colombia, one of the most important tourism industry events in Latin America. As part of this mission, more than 40 media interactions were conducted, including one-on-one interviews, meetings with journalists, a media lunch, and meetings with tourism authorities from Cali.
These efforts are part of an ongoing strategy to strengthen the destination’s presence in the Latin American market and build relationships with key industry partners.
Industry Engagement and Destination Promotion
At the same time, the sales team participated in several activations with industry professionals in the United States, including destination presentations, networking events, and meetings with meeting and convention planners in cities such as New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and other key markets.
These initiatives help maintain direct contact with event organizers and promote Puerto Rico as a destination for meetings, incentives, and conventions.
Experiences for Travel Advisors
The destination also recently hosted travel advisors from the United States through several familiarization trips (FAM trips) designed to showcase the diversity of experiences the Island offers.
During these visits, participants explored natural areas such as El Yunque National Forest, took part in culinary tours through Old San Juan, enjoyed cultural experiences, and visited different hotel properties across the destination.
These programs allow travel advisors to experience the destination firsthand and share more informed recommendations with their clients.
A Historic Step for Lacrosse in Puerto Rico
In the sports arena, the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee (COPUR) officially recognized Puerto Rico Lacrosse as a national federation. This recognition represents an important step for the development of the sport on the Island and opens the door for participation in qualification processes for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The organization also highlighted the impact of the PALA Sixes Cup 2025, held in Humacao, and thanked Discover Puerto Rico for its support in helping achieve this milestone.
