Discover Puerto Rico continues to develop key initiatives to strengthen the Island’s international presence, while also promoting cultural collaborations and showcasing the richness of our regions. Here’s a recap of recent actions:
Discover Puerto Rico Expands in Argentina & Chile
Puerto Rico in Latin American Markets
As part of our commitment to expand Puerto Rico’s reach in Latin America, Johanna González from the Leisure team participated in Brand USA’s Sales Mission in Chile and Argentina. She held one-on-one meetings with leading tour operators and delivered trainings for travel advisors in both markets. The strong interest shown confirms the growing desire to learn more about Puerto Rico and the wide variety of experiences the Island offers.
Cultural Experience with JetBlue
As part of the residency, we partnered with JetBlue to deliver immersive experiences on three special flights from New York, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale. The first activation, from FLL, featured a bomba performance by the Escuela de Bomba y Plena Tata Cepeda, surprising and educating travelers about Puerto Rico’s cultural richness.
Strategic Alliances
Discover Puerto Rico also participated in the SME Power Breakfast, reaffirming our commitment to the local industry. In addition, we supported the celebration of Game On! at Caribbean Cinemas in Plaza Guaynabo, the first of a series of events to be held under the contractual alliance established in June 2025 with the Sales and Marketing Executives Association. Our team was represented by Carlos Deliz, Vanessa Figueroa, Glorianna Yamin, Karinna Sostre, Jennyser Valentín, and Emma Rosado.
An Afternoon in Maunabo
The team also accepted an invitation from the Municipality of Maunabo’s Tourism Office as part of the preparations for the Festival Jueyero. The visit began at the Erasto Fernández Perales Coliseum and continued to the emblematic Vicente Morales Lebrón Tunnels, inaugurated in 2008—an important infrastructure project in southeastern Puerto Rico that has also become a tourist attraction.
The tour included the Punta Tuna Wetland Nature Reserve, a recreational area for hiking, cycling, and community activities that connects to Playa Larga and offers views of the historic Punta Tuna Lighthouse. Built in 1892 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the lighthouse overlooks the Caribbean Sea from a dramatic cliffside.
The route also featured Playa Bohío, known as the black sand beach, and the Maunabo pier, where nature and marine life take center stage. The experience ended with a gastronomic stop at El Muelle Restaurant & Bar, overlooking California Beach, where the group enjoyed local dishes, including the signature coconut arepa.
The day highlighted a clear impression: Maunabo combines history, nature, and gastronomy in a way that enriches the tourism offering of Puerto Rico’s southeast region.
