Discover Puerto Rico Joins FICP’s Hospitality Partner Advisory Committee
Rita López, National Sales Director at Discover Puerto Rico, has been selected to join the Hospitality Partner Advisory Committee (HPAC) of Financial and Insurance Conference Professionals (FICP), an organization that brings together approximately 1,500 professionals serving the financial services and insurance industries.
FICP is a professional association that convenes and trains event and conference planners from the insurance and financial services sectors, whose clients include multinational corporations, banks, and pharmaceutical companies—making this a highly lucrative and competitive segment for tourism destinations.
López’s appointment will take effect on January 1, 2026, and will run for three years.
According to FICP, the HPAC exists to provide guidance and advice to the Board of Directors on industry trends and challenges, represent the needs of the hospitality partner community, and offer input related to programs and sponsorships.
López’s participation in the HPAC will ensure continuous visibility for Puerto Rico and Discover Puerto Rico within the organization’s inner circle, positioning the Island at the forefront of industry discussions and reinforcing its image as a leading destination within this segment.
Furthermore, this designation represents an opportunity for Discover Puerto Rico to maintain direct engagement with high-level event planners, facilitating conversations to attract future business and gaining strategic insights into trends and needs within the corporate events market for the financial and insurance sectors.
Puerto Rico to Host FICP’s Annual Meeting
In addition to López’s appointment, FICP announced the selection of Puerto Rico as the host destination for its annual conference, which will take place at El Conquistador Hotel in November 2027.
Approximately 900 attendees are expected, with an even 50/50 split between suppliers and professionals from the finance and insurance industries. The initial estimated economic impact is $1.6 million, including the booking of 3,004 room nights. The economic impact could increase further when accounting for pre- and post-event activities among attendees.
López’s appointment and Puerto Rico’s designation as the host of the FICP Annual Conference represent a significant step forward for the Island in the high-profile meetings tourism segment.
