Discover Puerto Rico Wants to Meet You

The Destination Experience team serves as the destination’s ambassador on the Island. Acting as the local extension of the sales team, they curate experiences for clients considering Puerto Rico as a host for conventions, incentive trips, or meetings. They demonstrate how a program can work on the Island, collaborating closely with partners, hoteliers, and suppliers.

“We are the bridge between clients and suppliers. We’re the ones who make that connection. We also make sure clients see the best of Puerto Rico, because we are constantly competing with many other destinations, and we want to show that Puerto Rico is a complete destination with so much to offer—its natural beauty, culture, gastronomy, and also its infrastructure,” explained Vanessa Figueroa, Director of the team.

The Destination Experience team is responsible for site inspections and familiarization trips for potential clients, which allows them to connect closely with the community. One of their goals is to further impact that community—helping entrepreneurs learn how Discover Puerto Rico can support them in showcasing their products or services and collaborating in the growth of their brand.

“What we’re looking for are entrepreneurs with artisanal, locally made, high-quality products or services that represent Puerto Rico and can be incorporated into conventions, incentive trips, or meetings—or used as gifts in a goodie bag. We want to meet them because we may be able to hire them or purchase their products for future events,” added Figueroa.

Examples of products and services
It’s not only about items like coffee, chips, tote bags, or towels. It can also be a service that can be marketed and offered to visitors attending events or conventions. The key is that the products or services highlight Puerto Rican culture, are locally made, and meet high quality standards.
