In every month of 2025, short-term rental bookings in the municipalities of Puerto Rico’s Northern Region increased between 7% and 33% compared to 2024. This growth trend is expected to continue throughout the rest of the year.
Lodging Supply in Puerto Rico’s Northern Region Grows 14%
The demand for lodging has inspired new businesses in the region. In July alone, lodging supply was 14% higher than last year. This is not an isolated spike but part of a steady trend dating back to 2021, when Puerto Rico began recording record-breaking years in tourism.
More and more individuals and families in the region see tourism as an opportunity to earn a living, to start new businesses, and to grow professionally. Over 50 tourism entrepreneurs and professionals gathered on August 20 at Discover Puerto Rico’s Northern Region Tourism Meeting, held at Villa Pesquera in Camuy.
During the event, organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Camuy and the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, participants reviewed visitor trends in the region. Discussions included why the most visited attractions were Dorado Public Beach, Mar Chiquita Beach in Manatí, Toro Verde Adventure Park, and the Camuy River Caves (prior to their temporary closure), and what steps can be taken to continue attracting visitors to the area.
The meeting also allowed entrepreneurs to learn in detail how to integrate into Discover Puerto Rico’s destination promotions, particularly through the DiscoverPuertoRico.com portal, destination PR initiatives, and social media channels.
A workshop from the La IDEA program was also held, designed to help tourism businesses strengthen their digital presence. The initiative provides free, personalized guidance to entrepreneurs on the main platforms travelers use to decide what to do and where to stay during their trip to Puerto Rico.
The next regional meeting will take place in Ponce in December. Meanwhile, Discover Puerto Rico will continue its schedule of town hall-style gatherings in Dorado on September 17, in Moca on October 8, and in Aguada on October 15.
