Colombian television network Telepacífico aired a special feature titled Puerto Rico, the Island of Enchantment, a three-part series that highlighted the Island’s musical heritage, gastronomy, and rich cultural traditions. 

The special consisted of three episodes: Discovering Puerto Rico Through Its Music; Gastronomy in Puerto Rico: Tradition, Employment, and Tourist Appeal; and Castillo San Felipe del Morro: History and Heritage in San Juan, Puerto Rico. 

The episodes aired during prime time on August 16, August 30, and September 6, respectively. The coverage was also amplified through the network’s social media platforms and the episodes were made available on Telepacífico’s YouTube channel, significantly extending the feature’s reach. 

Discovering Puerto Rico Through Its Music explored the importance of music in Puerto Rican culture, celebrating bomba and plena as the Island’s historical and musical foundation, as well as enduring symbols of Boricua identity. It also showcased how these rhythms continue to influence contemporary music genres such as salsa and reggaetón. 

The second episode, Gastronomy in Puerto Rico: Tradition, Employment, and Tourist Appeal, emphasized Puerto Rico’s rich culinary identity, deeply rooted in African heritage. It illustrated how these traditions have nourished generations, fostering unity, resilience, and cultural pride. 

The final installment, Castillo San Felipe del Morro: History and Heritage in San Juan, Puerto Rico, explored the story of El Morro as part of the Island’s cultural heritage, reflecting on its colonial past and modern-day identity. 

The special reached approximately 7 million viewers, marking the most extensive television coverage of Puerto Rico in the Colombian market to date. The feature positioned the Island as a vibrant destination that blends tradition, flavor, rhythm, and culture. 

Telepacífico, based in Cali, is one of Colombia’s most influential public television networks. Recognized as the leading channel in the country’s southwest region, it enjoys strong cultural prestige and national reach thanks to its award-winning productions and diverse, high-quality programming that connects with audiences beyond its regional base.
