Puerto Rican tourism closed 2025 surpassing historical benchmarks in lodging, passenger traffic, and visitor arrivals, marking the fifth consecutive record-breaking year. "This is the fifth consecutive year that Puerto Rico has achieved new tourism records, reflecting sustained growth and a clear international positioning strategy. This momentum will continue to strengthen in 2026 through events and promotions that consolidate the Island as a global-caliber destination. Puerto Rico is not defined by regional comparisons; it is a destination with a unique and competitive offering for visitors from around the world," said Jorge L. Pérez, Chief Executive Officer of Discover Puerto Rico, during an event of the Professional Convention Managers Association in Philadelphia.
Key Benchmarks Exceeded in 2025:
- Air Traffic: Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport received over 6.8 million passenger arrivals, a 3% increase compared to 2024.
- Lodging Demand: Nearly 7.9 million hotel nights booked, representing an 8% year-over-year increase (STR and AirDNA).
- Lodging Revenue: Hotels and short-term rentals generated approximately $1.99 billion, up 3% from 2024.
- Employment: By November 2025, Puerto Rico reached a record 102,300 jobs in the recreation and lodging sector, a 4% increase from the previous year (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).
- Events & Conventions: 262,779 hotel nights booked in this segment, an 18% year-over-year increase, contributing over $207 million to Puerto Rico’s economy (2% more than 2024).
- Cruises: Over 1.6 million cruise passengers arrived at Puerto Rico’s ports, an increase of nearly 8% compared to 2024.

The Island also celebrated the expansion of offerings from global hotel brands like Hilton, along with multimillion-dollar renovations of iconic properties across Puerto Rico.
As Puerto Rico expanded its cultural reach across industries, platforms, and audiences, Discover Puerto Rico launched a series of strategic partnerships and initiatives in 2025, reinforcing the Island’s leadership in modern and conscious destination marketing. Key initiatives included:
- Wellness Collaboration with Calm: In May 2025, Discover Puerto Rico launched a pioneering partnership with Calm, the leading mental health app, featuring immersive audio experiences in English and Spanish designed to transport listeners to the Island’s natural beauty and vibrant culture. Developed with local sound engineers and Puerto Rican composer, actor, producer, and director Lin-Manuel Miranda, this initiative highlighted Puerto Rico as a premier wellness destination.
