Strategy and Experiences Position Puerto Rico in International Markets
During January 2026, Discover Puerto Rico continued to strengthen the destination’s presence in strategic markets through initiatives focused on international promotion and the creation of high-value editorial content.
From January 12 to 16, Cristina Fernandes, a representative of the Leisure Team, participated in the Brand USA Mexico Sales Mission, with stops in Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Mexico City. The agenda included 18 workshops and 90 one-on-one meetings with tour operators and travel agencies, along with networking opportunities that helped strengthen commercial relationships and position Puerto Rico within the Mexican travel market.
At the same time, from January 15 to 18, the Island welcomed U.S.-based freelance journalists Natasha Marsh and Rebecca Friedman as part of a familiarization trip focused on iconic experiences. The itinerary highlighted the destination’s diversity by integrating cultural celebrations, local gastronomy, and outdoor adventures, reinforcing the narrative of Puerto Rico as a place where culture, nature, and authentic experiences converge.
From business meetings to immersive experiences on the Island, these initiatives demonstrate how destination promotion continues to evolve in response to new ways of traveling and storytelling. By combining strategy, relationships, and authentic experiences, Discover Puerto Rico continues to build a relevant and sustained presence in key markets.
