Tourism Gathering in Fajardo Advances Tools, Partnerships, and Opportunities for Industry Businesses
More than 70 business owners representing different sectors of the tourism industry participated in the “Tourism Gathering in Fajardo,” held at El Conquistador Resort, where they had the opportunity to learn more about Discover Puerto Rico, its mission, and the tools available to support local businesses.
The event provided a space to exchange ideas and build strategic partnerships. Presentations included updated Visitor Profile metrics, a study detailing key insights about travelers to the Island, including economic data, activity and experience interests, and markets of origin. Attendees were also introduced to free digital tools available through Discover Puerto Rico’s website, designed to help strengthen their businesses and increase visibility
The recently launched Destination VIP Access Program was also presented. This initiative enhances the convention visitor experience by offering exclusive deals and experiences that encourage attendees to explore Puerto Rico beyond the convention center or host hotel.
Accessibility in tourism was one of the topics that generated the most engagement among participants. Emma Rosado, Senior Marketing Manager at Discover Puerto Rico, highlighted the potential of this segment and the loyalty that travelers with special needs develop toward destinations that offer inclusive experiences.
Entrepreneurs actively participated by asking questions, sharing challenges, and proposing solutions to strengthen the tourism sector in the Eastern region and across Puerto Rico.
For María Isabel Santiago Menéndez, founder of Secret Spot Puerto Rico, the gathering represented an opportunity to gain valuable insights and establish connections to strengthen her young personalized-tour company.
“I loved learning about the visitor data and the accessibility segment. I would love to implement it in my business because it’s important that everyone can enjoy these experiences. I was also able to connect with hotels and other entrepreneurs for future collaborations,” Santiago Menéndez shared.
Brenda Vigil of Pinceladas Art Studio emphasized the value of the free tools available to partners, particularly for small businesses in the creative sector.
“They explained how to use their platforms as a tool to our advantage. For small businesses, especially in the creative industries, this support is important because cultural tourism has strong potential in Puerto Rico,” she noted.
Meanwhile, Yari Osorio Acevedo, founder of Vieques Treasures, underscored the importance of the data and partnerships highlighted during the event.
“The metrics and information shared are extremely valuable because they help you better understand the sector and identify your niche. These gatherings also allow us to build partnerships—and when we come together, we grow as an industry,” she said.
The Tourism Gathering is part of Discover Puerto Rico’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with industry partners, foster the development of diverse experiences, and support sustainable tourism growth across the Island.
