Jorge Pérez, A Visionary Leader in Economic Development, Tourism, and the Entertainment Industry
Jorge L. Pérez, CVE, MBA, is a distinguished executive with over 20 years of experience in economic development and the destination management, events, and entertainment industry. Known for his transformational leadership, he has been a key figure in the evolution of Puerto Rico’s tourism and economic ecosystem, positioning the Island as a world-class destination for conventions, entertainment, and high-impact events.
As the top regional operations executive for ASM Global Puerto Rico, Jorge has led the management and strategic development of over one million square feet of premier space for conventions, shows, and entertainment, including the Puerto Rico Convention Center, the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, the Antiguo Casino de Puerto Rico, and the Coca-Cola Music Hall in the vibrant Distrito T-Mobile.
Under his leadership as Regional Manager for ASM Global in Puerto Rico, these venues — managed in partnership with the Puerto Rico Convention District Authority — have reached record levels of activity, international visibility, and economic return. Thanks to his vision and expertise in hospitality, event production, and logistics, Jorge has been instrumental in attracting and executing global-caliber events that have projected Puerto Rico’s image to the world and generated accelerated economic impact across the Island.

“No me quiero ir de aquí,” the historic Bad Bunny musical residency at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, with 30 consecutive sold-out performances, marking an unprecedented milestone in local entertainment. The residency welcomed over 420,000 attendees from around the globe and is estimated to have generated over $200 million in economic impact. The Coliseum became the epicenter of global entertainment, highlighting Puerto Rican gastronomy, art, and folklore. This residency not only celebrated Puerto Rican talent on an unparalleled scale, but also revitalized tourism, the hospitality industry, and multiple commercial sectors throughout the Island.
Thanks to his leadership, the Convention District has been revitalized as a vibrant hub for economic development, driving sustained increases in group tourism revenue, hotel room nights, and meetings industry (MICE) activity.
Working closely with his team, the Puerto Rico Convention District Authority, Discover Puerto Rico, and key industry players, Jorge also led Puerto Rico’s recovery in the meetings and entertainment sectors after the COVID-19 pandemic. Through innovative strategies and high-impact events, his efforts have contributed to over $51 million in economic impact. These achievements have positioned local venues among the top in global ticket sales and further reinforced Puerto Rico’s status on the international events map.
Jorge holds a Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University, where he was an All-American and team captain, and an MBA from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, with a double major in Marketing and Finance. He was a member of Puerto Rico’s National Team at the 1991 Pan American Games and a finalist in the Chicago Marathon. Jorge brings a unique perspective to his work, combining the discipline of an athlete with the strategic vision of a seasoned executive.
