The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has forecasted a 60% chance that the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season will be more active than usual. According to the agency, between 13 and 19 named storms (with winds of 39 mph or higher) are expected. Of these, 6 to 10 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 3 to 5 major hurricanes (Category 3, 4, or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher).

The site also features a product tracker, a digital tool that allows real-time monitoring of the status of tourism-related services and facilities after an emergency. The tool informs potential travelers about the operational status of airports, transportation, hotels, short-term rentals, restaurants, points of interest, and attractions, indicating whether they are operating normally, offering limited service, or temporarily closed.
“This tool has been essential for retaining travelers, as it allows them to see what’s operational and make informed decisions about their plans,” added Cortés Chico.
How can you support this effort?
To keep this information current, it is essential that partners complete the digital form sent approximately 48 hours after an emergency. This form collects the operational status of your lodging, restaurant, attraction, or service, including:

Estimated time to resume operations

Photos showing the current condition of the facility
The form can be submitted more than once, allowing you to update your status as services are restored. This information is crucial to creating and maintaining the product tracker, providing transparency and building trust with visitors.
