Taking Puerto Rico on Tour
During the week of September 16–20, Johanna González, Senior Manager of Leisure Sales, participated in two important events: the CCRA Lunch Presentation in Holyoke, MA, and the PTANA chapter meeting in Baltimore.
Both gatherings brought together travel advisors eager to learn everything Puerto Rico has to offer. Enthusiasm was especially strong for the Puerto Rico Travel Specialist Program, which stood out as a powerful tool to inspire agents and help them become true experts on the destination.
Tour in Morovis
As part of its visits to different municipalities, Discover Puerto Rico carried out a tour in Morovis to explore and highlight its cultural, recreational, and commercial offerings. The day included stops at the Agro-Cultural Museum, dedicated to the municipality’s agricultural history and traditions; the José “Pepe” Huyke Coliseum, an important sports and community hub; and the Passive Park in Torrecillas, a green space for family recreation and nature appreciation.
Several local businesses were also visited, reflecting the authenticity of the area and the commitment of its entrepreneurs to hospitality. These visits are part of an ongoing effort to strengthen community ties and highlight the role of each municipality in Puerto Rico’s visitor economy.
Exploring Caguas Through Its Gastronomy
On September 19, a gastronomic tour took place through downtown Caguas, integrating history, culture, and unique flavors. Led by Jorge Echevarría, participants began at Plaza Pública Santiago R. Palmer, where they learned about the municipality’s history and natural heritage before embarking on seven culinary stops.
The itinerary featured the artisanal proposal of Sangría Factory, the vegan cuisine of El Grifo, the healthy alternatives of Nectar Acai, the vibrant Mexican flavors of La Mordida Taquería, and the traditional cooking of Casita Vieja, which rescues ancestral techniques under a farm-to-table model. The experience also showcased the richness of cacao at Montadero Chocolate, with a presentation on its agricultural and cultural value, and concluded at ConVida Gin Bar, a space styled after the mid-20th century era.
