The mausoleum for one of Puerto Rico's most illustrious figures, Ramón Emeterio Betances, is found in Cabo Rojo's main town square. Born in 1927 in Cabo Rojo, Betances was a doctor and one of the leaders of the island's abolitionist and independence movements.
