Evita

April 06, 2024

The well-known musical Evita will take over the Santurce Fine Arts Center stage on April 5 and 6, 2024.

This Broadway classic, with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, will be presented as part of the Broadway in San Juan 2024 season in a production by BAS Entertainment headed by Cherry Torres (Eva Perón), Eddie Noel Rodríguez (Juan Domingo Perón) and Víctor Santiago (Che, narrator or guiding thread of the story).

The proposal - in two acts, with high historical content and set in Argentina between 1934 and 1952 - narrates the origins of Eva Duarte, who, from being the illegitimate daughter of an aristocrat with limited economic resources, became an actress and became the wife of President Juan Domingo Perón. As First Lady of Argentina, Eva Perón was considered the most powerful woman in Latin America. She was admired for her charm, beauty, and support for social causes until she died at age 33.
