Bosque Forestal de Río Abajo - Villa Comunitaria Crozier

About

Crozier Community Village is a forest opening community-based opportunities. It aims to promote the development of the communities surrounding the Río Abajo State Forest between Arecibo and Utuado by creating and implementing socioeconomic, educational, cultural, and encounter with nature programs that use and conserve natural resources sustainably.

The community organization is in the process of transforming a former peace corps camp in the woods back into a training and employment site as it was in the past. However, they want to resume the approach from a perspective of sustainability, solidarity, and a green economy. The project proposes to establish a "community village" with different services, among which it stands out: interpretive tours about the history, fauna, and flora; to camp; basic health services center; a technology center; forestry and environmental training center; activities center; educational accommodation; community grocery store, among others.
